The software, and the services

The software is open source and yours to run. The services we run, like this website, have the terms below.

The software

Surfing Dog Inbox is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0. You may run it, read it, change it and share it. If you run a changed version as a service for other people, the licence asks you to offer them your changes. The spec and the SDK are MIT instead, and the connector SDK will be too when it ships, so that talking to an inbox puts no copyleft obligation on anyone.

The licence text in the repository is what applies. Like other open-source licences, it says the software comes with no warranty and the authors are not liable for what happens when you run it. If you run it, you are the one running it.

The services we run

This website, the documentation, the requests board and the directory are services we run. By using them you accept the terms below. If you don't accept them, please don't use them. The software works without any of them.

What you may not do

  • Post anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to post.
  • Pretend to be someone else, or claim to speak for a business that isn't yours.
  • Attack the services, or try to reach data that isn't yours.
  • Scrape so heavily that the service gets worse for other people.

We may remove a post or refuse service for any of these reasons. If we do, and you ask, we'll tell you which one.

The requests board

What you post there is public and stays public. You still own what you write, and you give us permission to show it on the site. Votes decide what we look at first. They don't promise that anything gets built, and nothing said on the board is a commitment to ship.

Availability

These services are free and offered as they are, with no uptime guarantee and no warranty. We may change or withdraw them. If something goes down, we fix it because we use it too. No contract obliges us to.

Hosting, when it opens

Paid hosting is not open yet. When it opens, it will have its own agreement covering what a paid service needs and this page leaves out: what the service promises, what it costs, how to leave and take your data with you, and a written data processing agreement. Nothing on this page is an offer to sell anything.

Liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit or lost data arising from the free services or the software. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not let us limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

Law

Portuguese law and the courts of Portugal apply. If you are a consumer in the European Union, you keep the protection of the law where you live and can bring a claim there.

Where this stands

We wrote this ourselves, and a lawyer has not reviewed it yet. That review will happen before we sell anything, and this note comes off the page once it has.
